The Aquanaut model 5167A caused quite a stir when it was launched in 1997 due to its youthful, modern, and unexpected design. Its rounded octagonal case was inspired by the Nautilus, and it featured a durable "tropical" strap made of a new composite material that could withstand wear, saltwater, and UV radiation.

This watch is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement and features a Caliber 26-330 S C, along with a date display and sweep seconds. The dial is black and embossed, while the case is made of stainless steel and has a screw-down crown, a sapphire crystal case back, and a water resistance of up to 120 meters. The case measures 40.8 mm in diameter from 10-4 o'clock and is 8.1 mm in height. The strap is a "tropical" composite black strap with a fold-over clasp.
